Build Confidence at Iowa Choice Charter!

When Students progress through the Middle and High School years, as our Learners do, confidence levels fluctuate. However, when Students practice self-care, they strengthen their confidence while preparing for success in school and beyond. With that in mind, take a look at the impact of self-care on physical and mental health in this Cobra Connection Blog Post:

Engaging to Empower

Learners who engage with others and regularly step outside their comfort zone experience positive reinforcement in their confidence. Whether mastering a new concept, finishing a complex project, or tackling a new creative skill, every achievement a Student earns bolsters the belief that they are capable and boosts their confidence.

Having the Drive to Thrive

Eating well, getting enough sleep, and staying active positively impact energy levels and focus. When Students feel physically strong, they approach challenges with greater confidence! Additionally, when Learners have a strong support system, this makes a difference. Students who surround themselves with encouraging Peers and Mentors feel valued and motivated to move in the world with confidence and drive.

Integration in Education

Choice Charter integrates self-care into everyday learning by implementing various methods and initiatives. These include:

  • Our Workshops on stress management and goal-setting

  • Our focus on physical activity and well-being

  • Our culture of kindness and self-expression

  • Our provision of adequate resources to all Students

When self-care becomes part of the routine, confidence grows naturally. At Iowa Choice Charter, we recognize the importance of small, consistent decisions that shape a positive self-image for every Learner.

Managing Stress and Emotions

The Middle and High School years often prove overwhelming for many Students. By participating in stress-reducting activities like meditation, journaling, and vulnerable conversations, Learners acquire the emotional tools to stay in control and build resilience.

It is imperative to note that when Youth prioritize self-care, they develop a confident mindset that will carry them toward a successful future. The truth is that no one is born with high self-esteem, and everyone struggles with maintaining healthy confidence levels. The good news? We can all create more confidence for ourselves. And, at Iowa Choice Charter School, we remind Students that confidence comes from everyday habits and intentional self-care!
