Students representing minoritized demographics made up 60% of the Charter School population during the 2019-2020 school year. Additionally, Charter Schools consistently served a higher proportion of Students who represent low-income populations from 2005 to 2021.

Charter Schools are funded the same as any other Public School: through public dollars! The amount spent per Student per day in Charter Schools on average is less than the amount spent in 25 of the 27 states that have generated and collected corresponding data.

Iowa Choice Charter School was founded by our CEO, Dr. Cynthia Knight, and is supported by a Superintendent, Principal, Curriculum Director, and experienced backend staff. We operate with a nonprofit Board structure and match the structure of most Charter Schools (65%) as we are freestanding. This means the school itself is managed independently!
